Who We Are

We are a strategy consulting firm focused in the healthcare/life sciences arena. Siena Partners was founded in 2002 as a small independent alternative to traditional large management consulting firms. We offer big-company experience in a small package, affording our clients a customized, flexible approach tailored to their project needs, budget, and cultural climate.

Siena Partners is made up of its two Principals, Kate Motte and Meryl Rosofsky. Our core skills are focused on strategic analysis, group facilitation, leadership development, structured/effective communication, and program management. Our passion as consultants is bringing new ideas and perspectives into organizations to help them address their pressing business challenges.

We have an extensive network of experienced colleagues to tap into on our clients’ behalf, partnering with them for their deep expertise in marketing, public relations, venture financing and management, and other areas as appropriate.

Kate Motte

Kate has over fifteen years of experience consulting to leading healthcare organizations. Prior to co-founding Siena Partners, Kate worked for several premier consultancies including Booz, Allen & Hamilton; S&FA (a boutique sales and marketing firm); and Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting’s Strategic Services), where she focused on the commercialization of pharmaceutical and biotechnology products, working closely with brand teams and new product planning groups. She also served as part of the Corporate Development team as a Director at ChannelPoint, a healthcare technology firm funded by Capital Z Partners. Across all these experiences, she has worked closely with senior executives helping them to define, shape, and operationalize their Vision.

Kate has led cross-functional teams and groups focused on a variety of business challenges including strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, merger integration, new product planning, competitive positioning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Across all of these efforts, Kate brings a level of enthusiasm and ability to mobilize internal teams to drive them towards a common endpoint. She is able to effectively leverage internal resources and knowledge while integrating expert external viewpoints as part of the overall project management.

Through her career, she has worked with a wide range of companies spanning Fortune 100 multinationals to seed-financed start ups. While her primary focus is on the healthcare industry, she has also worked with consumer products and high tech companies and a variety of non-profits.

Kate holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia. While at Wharton, she was a Summer Associate at Genentech in their Strategic Marketing Group where she worked on product planning efforts for Rituxan in partnership with IDEC. She is active in the alumni associations for both alma maters.

Kate lives just outside of Providence, Rhode Island with her husband and two young sons. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, fixing up their old home, community volunteering, and distance running.
Meryl Rosofsky, M.D.

Meryl has consulted to leading and emerging pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies for over fifteen years. She began her consulting career with Accenture’s Strategic Services, as part of its world-class Pharmaceutical & Medical Products practice. At Accenture, Meryl co-led the seminal benchmarking study “Re-Inventing Drug Discovery: The Quest for Innovation and Productivity.” She later started her own independent consulting firm before co-founding Siena Partners in 2002.

Meryl has worked with a spectrum of companies, from entrepreneurial start-ups to major global corporations. Her main focus is on healthcare/life sciences, with deep experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. She has consulted to government agencies, cultural institutions, and retail manufacturers as well.

Meryl brings to bear strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills from her medical training to help clients solve their important business issues and enhance the overall health of their organizations. She helps bridge the business and the science, working with cross-functional teams to effectively integrate the R&D and commercial aspects of the business. Combining analytic rigor with creative ideas and a collaborative spirit, Meryl gets great satisfaction from engaging people’s energy and expertise across different parts of the organization and aligning teams around a shared Vision (often using cross-functional strategic offsites as a catalyst for strategic planning and “content-rich teambuilding”).

Meryl earned her MD from Harvard Medical School. She spent two years at Oxford University as a Kellett Fellow conducting research in neuropsychology, and was a researcher at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, contributing to pioneering studies on bright light therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder. Meryl holds a BA in psychology from Columbia University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude.

In her free time Meryl leads food and wine tours in Italy and writes about the cultural and historical aspects of food for academic and popular publications. Meryl lives in Greenwich Village in New York City.
